If the United States intends to have a strong defense and a robust economy for years to come, then it is absolutely critical that it have a strong manufacturing base. In order to build a strong manufacturing base, it is imperative that we have the skilled workforce available to make things. The country needs to raise the level of awareness and exposure to the manufacturing industry and all of the excellent career opportunities it has to offer. It has been proven that without exposure to a certain industry or career opportunity, students will not pursue that field of study and therefore career in their future. The National Robotics League (NRL) provides a vehicle designed to draw students into the world of manufacturing – it creates awareness, exposure, and a hands-on experience to the machining and engineering worlds that fuel the manufacturing industry. I believe that the NRL is critical to America’s future. The more students that we can expose and introduce to the likes of the NRL, the more robust our economy and more secure our National defense will be for years to come.
