After suffering a surprising setback when our event venue experienced a major structural fire, we are proud to announce we will be hosting the Second Annual Rage-in-the-Cage Tournament on May 3rd, 2014 in the center court of the Lycoming Mall. This location will provide an excellent opportunity to highlight the robotic action to the Central Pennsylvania area.
With limited open dates available, we selected a date we hope will allow all PA schools to participate after their respective regional events. This event should be a great occasion to give your robot teams one last opportunity in the arena for the 2014 season. If your team is fortunate enough to be attending the National Robotics League Tournament May 16th and 17th, this would give your team and drivers one last chance to tweak their robots before that event. Also teams that are just looking for another chance to get back in the arena before the end of the school year, this is the tournament for you!
Teams can feel free to bring robots built in previous years to allow new or next year’s team members an opportunity to get some real tournament experience. This will be a great chance to develop some excitement for your future teams, allowing inexperienced drivers some much needed practice in tournament conditions. We encourage practice driving between matches and promote grudge matches during breaks in the action.
We are still planning on running a Rookie Bracket, to help inexperienced teams get their feet wet without getting destroyed in the opening rounds. However, we are also looking for those experienced teams that want to take their robotic squad to the next level of robotic competition. We will be featuring a Veteran Bracket open to any teams willing to participate.
Please feel free to email me (Kirk Marshall) at kmarshall@bloomsd.k12.pa.us or call me at 570-784-6100 regarding registration materials, additional tournament information, lodging information or any other robot related questions you might have.
Hope to see you at Rage in the Cage!
